About the SOJKM Foundation
SOJKM stands for Stichting Ondernemers Jekerkwartier Maastricht (Foundation for Entrepreneurs in Maastricht's Jekerkwartier).
The foundation is committed to a strong, recognisable and vibrant Jekerkwartier, with an eye for history, entrepreneurship and the unique atmosphere of the neighbourhood.
What SOJKM stands for
Jekerkwartier is one of Maastricht's oldest neighbourhoods. It is a place with a rich history, a strong identity and a wide variety of businesses. SOJKM was founded to preserve these qualities and make them visible.
The foundation believes that the Jekerkwartier neighbourhood is at its best when entrepreneurs work together, strengthen each other and take joint responsibility for the image and experience of the neighbourhood.
Our principles
SOJKM's work is based on three principles that together define the character of the Jekerkwartier:
Jekerkwartier has a long history that can still be felt in its streets, buildings and places. This historical context forms the basis of the neighbourhood and deserves care and attention.
The neighbourhood thrives thanks to entrepreneurs with character. Small-scale, unique and committed. SOJKM supports entrepreneurs who consciously choose quality, personal contact and connection with the neighbourhood.
A strong neighbourhood is created through cooperation. SOJKM brings entrepreneurs together, encourages joint initiatives and helps to tell the story of the Jekerkwartier as a whole.
What the SOJKM does
SOJKM is not a commercial entity or a marketing machine. The foundation:
connects entrepreneurs in the neighbourhood
supports joint initiatives and activities
increases the visibility of the Jekerkwartier
acts as a point of contact for entrepreneurs and partners
Always with respect for the scale, tranquillity and uniqueness of the neighbourhood.
Board of the SOJKM foundation
SOJKM is supported by a board of entrepreneurs from the Jekerkwartier neighbourhood. They volunteer their time to the foundation and to the interests of the neighbourhood. The board contributes ideas, connects people and monitors the course of SOJKM.
